As most of you in this area know, we had a HUGE windstorm Sunday, thanks to Hurricane Ike. We lost our power on Sunday while we were at church. We finally got our electric restored Monday night, and today we now have our phone and cable as well. Thankfully we did not have too much damage, it could have been worse, although we are the only street in our neighborhood with power so far. We were told not to expect to have service restored before Sat...we are so thankful it is back on.
Without our power it definitely made us get creative to keep the kiddos entertained, thankfully we have a great group of neighbors. We all got together each night and grilled out everyone's food before it went bad. All the kids played together and we had a campfire every night. The kids played on the playsets and trampolines until it got dark...then the flashlight tag got started. All in all it wasn't bad at all, I wouldn't want to do this everyday, but it made everyone get out of the house for a while and just be together without the distractions of TV or computers.
Here are some pics of our time without power and some of the damage around us.
